Where do we go?

Where do we go, once we start leaving? Followers of the Zoroastrian religion used to place their deceased atop a tower – the tower of silence. Here the corpse was exposed to not just the natural elements, but also to birds of prey. This process was considered a way of maintaining the purity of the earth and the atmosphere during the process of bodily decay.

Many different rituals have evolved surrounding burial worldwide. At their core, however, these rituals are the same: A ceremonial farewell is a first step in accepting death—the unbelievable.
